You, the exporter
Exactly as it should read on the form — your legal name, not a brand.
Outside an SEZ or a 100% EOU you are in the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) — ask your bank which box it wants for services.
Your bank — the Authorised Dealer
The branch where the foreign payments arrive. The form goes here.
How the services are delivered and paid
The printed form takes a tick, not a strikethrough — choose the one that applies.
Written in the clear space after the printed wording on the form.
This month's invoices — Part 2B
Regulation 3(2)(a) lets one EDF cover every client of the month, however many there are. The form prints three rows; more spill onto a continuation sheet.
- Realisation is nine months from the earliest invoice date, twelve when you invoice in rupees. Filing is due within 30 days of the month end.
Invoice 1
The declaration — Part 4
Whatever does not apply is struck out on the form, exactly as the footnote asks.
Add an invoice date and this works itself out.
- Add the exporter's name — the form cannot be filed without it.
- Add the authorised dealer's name and branch — this is the bank that takes the form.
- Add the date of declaration so Part 4 is signed and dated.

What the EDF asks for, and when it is due
The Export Declaration Form is the Annex to the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. This tool fills in the parts that apply to services — Part 1, the services table in Part 2B, and the declaration in Part 4 — and leaves the shipping boxes empty, so your bank sees the form it knows.
One form covers the month
Regulation 3(2)(a) lets you put every service export of a month on a single EDF, however many clients there were. List each invoice once and it goes into Part 2B.
Two dates to track
The EDF is due within 30 days of the month the invoice was raised. The full value has to arrive within nine months of the invoice date, or twelve if you invoice in rupees.
The goods boxes stay empty
RBI's EDF is one form for goods and services, and many of its boxes are about shipping. An exporter of services leaves the shipping bill, port of loading and Let Export Order blank.
How to fill it
- Enter your name, address and PAN, and the category of exporter your bank asks for. They are kept in your browser for next month.
- Add your bank branch and its AD code — the branch where the foreign payments arrive.
- List the month's invoices: who the client is, the country, the invoice number and date, the currency and the amount.
- Fill in the total value in rupees and a short description of the services. The value in words is worked out for you.
- Answer the declaration questions, check the preview and download the PDF. Send it to your bank the way that branch wants it — at the counter, by email or through net banking.
Questions people ask
What is the Export Declaration Form (EDF)?
The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the Annex to the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. An exporter of services files it with their bank to declare the value of everything invoiced that month. One form covers all the month's service invoices, however many clients there were.
Is the EDF compulsory for service exporters?
For firms and companies, yes. From 1 October 2026 the value of service exports is declared on the EDF, and it is due within 30 days of the end of the month the invoice was raised. Ask your bank which form number and category of exporter it wants on the copy it keeps.
Who does not have to file an EDF?
Individuals providing services abroad. RBI said on 7 October 2026 that individuals — tutoring, small software work — are not required to report, and that FAQs will follow. Until they do, ask your bank before filing.
When is the EDF due?
Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October's invoices are due by 30 November, November's by 30 December.
By when must the payment arrive?
Within nine months of the invoice date for a foreign currency realisation, or twelve months when the invoice is in rupees. On a monthly form the binding date is nine months from the earliest invoice listed on it.
Which parts of the EDF does an exporter of services fill?
Part 1 (general information), the services table in Part 2B, and the declaration in Part 4. The boxes about the shipping bill, port of loading and the Let Export Order date are for goods and stay empty.
Can one EDF cover several clients?
Yes. Regulation 3(2)(a) allows every service export of a month on a single EDF, however many clients there were. Each invoice goes into Part 2B once, with the client, country, invoice number and date, currency and amount.
What does 'strike out whichever is not applicable' mean?
The declaration is printed with alternatives — I/We, am/are, have delivered/will deliver, foreign exchange/Indian Rupees. The exporter crosses out the ones that do not apply. This tool strikes them for you based on what you select.
What is the AD code?
The AD code is the code RBI uses for your bank's branch, and your branch manager can give it to you. It identifies the Authorised Dealer that will receive the foreign currency and take the form.
Does my bank file the EDF for me?
No. The EDF is part of your export declaration pack, not something a bank fills in for you. Ask your branch once, before the first filing, and you will know for every month after that.
What happens to my details?
Nothing is uploaded. The PDF is built in your browser from the blank form, and the exporter details worth reusing are kept in that browser's local storage so next month starts filled in. You can switch it off or wipe it with one click.
